xCleaner is very easy to use.
The installation was very easy.
It was lacking in overall privacy effectiveness and and feature set richness as compared to the other products. xCleaner supported 19 additional plugins, far lower than most of the products reviewed. A plugin is a small piece of interface software that allows your computer to erase the history of the last used files within certain desktop applications like image viewers, graphical editors, chat, email, readers, etc.
xCleaner's Internet browser cleaning features included auto-complete, cache (Temporary Internet Files), cookies, and history of visited URLs. The Windows cleaning features included clipboard data, find/search history, Media Player history, MS Office history, recently opened documents, recycle bin, run history, scan disk temporary files, and temporary files/directories. There were no cleaning options at startup or that could be scheduled. xCleaner did have the ability to detect spyware. The product supports Internet Explorer/MSN, Netscape Navigator, AOL/Compuserve, and Opera.
The product didn't have any documentation and the help was short on details. xCleaner was one of the few products that provided technical support with live chat. There were no online updates available with the product. Supported environments for xCleaner include XP, NT4, 2000, ME, 98, and 95. xCleaner did have an interesting feature called "Picture Probe", that would allow you to examine, then destroy, all selected pictures on your hard-drive.
Overall, xCleaner is a good product, but is lacking in several feature areas.
